By CORRESPONDENT

MANGALDAI, April 15 - State Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Minister Atul Bora said that arrangements were done for smooth transportation of farm produce, especially vegetables of the area, for which the NF Railway will provide 19 trains.

We have formed a State-level committee to look into the matter and a meeting in this regard was held on Tuesday where representatives of the NF Railway were also present. The Railway authorities assured that 19 trains would carry the products to the neighbouring States and vice versa, Minister Bora said while talking to the mediapersons here following his visit on Wednesday.

He admitted that growers of easily perishable vegetables, like tomato, have suffered losses. I have visited several other places where there is abundant agriculture production and the local farmers have told me the problems they have been facing, including inter-district transportation. But PM Modi has made significant relaxation in the agriculture sector even during the lockdown period, Minister said, while visiting some vegetable-growing fields in Godaijhar village under Dalgaon Agri Sub-Division of the district.

While urging the farmers to continue agriculture works keeping in mind the severe shortage of farm produce aftermath the lockdown, he also assured necessary support to the farmers to substantiate the losses in future. I request the farmers to continue working. We will shortly distribute seeds of different seasonal variety of vegetables, besides providing financial assistance as immediate relief measure, Minister Bora added.

During his visit, he also met Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Dass, Superintendent of Police Amrit Bhuyan and other senior officials of the district administration and the agriculture department and took stock of the situation.
