By Correspondent

DOOMDOOMA, June 2 - The small tea growers of greater Baghjan area have been incurring a huge loss as bought leaf factories refused to purchase their green tea leaves due to the presence of oily substances on their tea leaves.

The condensate that has been coming out with gas from the BGR - 5 of Baghjan Oilfield of Oil India Limited since last Wednesday settled over the residences of people and agricultural fields, including the small tea growers gardens in the area.

Consequently, the bought leaf factories refused to purchase the green tea leaves from the small tea growers of greater Baghjan area. As a result, the frustrated tea growers threw away their tea leaves rejected by the factories on the road leading to the Baghjan Oilfield and shouted slogans against Oil India Limited.

It may be mentioned here that tea cultivation is the major source of livelihood of the majority of people of the Baghjan region of Doomdooma circle.
