NALBARI, March 7 - The Department of Biotechnology under the Central Government in association with the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Nalbari� organised a five-day skill development training on the integrated fish-pig-horticulture farming with focus on management of waste and aquatic environment.
A total of 30 farmers from various parts of the district took part in the training held from February 28.The training programme was aimed at developing skill in resource utilization generating maximum output per unit area, generation of livelihood opportunities contributing to the objective of national interest like doubling farmers income. Besides, scientists from KVK, Nalbari, several resource persons from renowned institutions of Assam were invited for delivering lectures in the training programme.
The scientists from KVK, Nalbari, Dr Mridul Deka, Dr Arfan Ali,� Ankur Rajbongshi, Homeswar Mazumdar delivered lectures on the potentiality�of integrated farming, piggery as component of integration and fishery-based integration system . Resource persons from other institutes, including Dr Monoranjan Neog, Associate Director of extension education, Jorhat and Dr Akhil Deka, Principal Scientist, Horticulture Research Station, Kahikuchi, took part.
The five-day programme included� theory and practical classes in relevant fields conducted as exposure visits to native progressive and entrepreneurial farmers of Nalbari district.
