Skill development training for minorities

GUWAHATI, Aug 5 - The Maulana Azad National Academy for Skills (MANAS), an autonomous body of the National Minorities Development & Finance Corporation under the Ministry of Minority Affairs, Government of India, has taken up various trades for skill development in Assam, Punjab, Haryana, Jammu & Kashmir and Bihar as of now. The Ministry of Minority Affairs, Government of India, inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi�s vision of �Skill India� and his slogan of � Sab Ka Sath, Sab Ka Vikas� has started a skill development mission under MANAS, a press note informed.

The State Coordinator of MANAS, Gautam Daniel Roy Chawdhury informed in the statement that members of the minority communities comprising Muslims, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains and Christians in Assam can avail skill development training in trades like computer training, beauty & wellness, telecom, tourism and hospitality, gems and jewellery, textile & handloom, agriculture, apparel making and home furnishing etc., through it. These people can also avail loans for self-employment through the National Minority Development & Finance Corporation.

Roy Chawdhury also informed that training of students of private madrassas and providing them financial assistance is one of the pilot projects of the Maulana Azad National Academy of Skills.
