Skill development prog held at Dhemaji

SILAPATHAR, June 11 - A skill development programme was held at the Dhemaji-based DRDA establishment on Saturday.

The programme was inaugurated by lighting the ceremonial lamp by MLA of Jonai LAC, Bhuban Pegu. The skill development programme was organised by the Dhemaji district administration to train up the local youths.

Delivering his speech, MLA of Dhemaji LAC, Dr Ranoj Pegu said that thousands of youth from Dhemaji, Lakhimpur and Majuli districts have been working as security guard, casual labour and hotel bell boys in Bengaluru, Chennai, Mumbai and other metropolitan cities. Due to lack of skilled knowledge, the youth are working as casual labourers. In order to train up the youth, the Dhemaji district administration has started the skill development programme.

The welcome address was delivered by Bhuban Pegu. The meeting was also attended and addressed by the BDO of Sissiborgaon Block Raj Kishor Doley, Principal of Dhemaji College Dipak Neog, ADC Mustafa Borbhuyan, Naba Kumar Deka Baruah, Mising Autonomous Council deputy chief Sukreswar Goyari and several others. The meeting was presided over by Naren Pao.
