Skill development centre inaugurated at Sootea

JAMUGURIHAT, Dec 16 - A new skill development centre � Kanyaka Skill Development Centre � was inaugurated by Sootea MLA Padma Hazarika at Nagsankar Natya Bhawan on Wednesday around 11 am.

The centre was established under the umbrella scheme of the Assam Skill Development Project to impart training to unemployed youths of the Sootea LAC.

Inaugurating the centre, Hazarika said, �We have to capture the market from outsiders� claws. Youths should develop work culture and come forward for agriculture.� The MLA has so far organized many orientation and training programmes for the unemployed youths of Sootea under the Assam Skill Development Project.

Pranab Kumar Sarma, Deputy Commissioner of Biswanath, attended the session as a distinguished guest, while Rajib Narayan Kalita, programme officer of Biswanath district skill development project, conducted the proceedings of the inaugural session. A total of 300 unemployed youths from 19 village panchayats under the Sootea LAC attended the session.

Talking to this reporter, the chief executive officer of the Kanyaka Skill Development Centre Moti Kumar Newar said that during the initial stage, nearly 500 unemployed youths may take cost-free training in the areas of fishery, goat keeping, cow keeping, broiler farming, nursing, etc., from this centre.

Free eye camp: A free eye camp was organized by Naduar Mandal Kishan Morcha at Basudev LP School, Panpur near here on Wednesday. A total of 100 persons attended the camp conducted by eye specialist Dr Juli Saikia and a medical team from the ERC Hospital, Tezpur. Poli Chutiya Bora, ZPC member of Borbhagiya, inaugurated the camp that was attended by Babul Bora, Pankaj Saikia, Bijoy Kataky along with other office-bearers of the Morcha.
