Six toppers bring laurels to Nalbari district

NALBARI, June 6 - Six students of Nalbari district, mostly from the rural areas, have brought laurels securing position among the ten rank holders in the HSLC examination, result of which were declared today.

While only two students of Nalbari town secured ranks, four others from rural areas achieved better results. Jyotishman Dev Sarma, a student of Sankardev Sishu Niketan, Barbhag got the 3rd rank, Namashya Deka of Little Flower School, Nalbari got the 4th rank, Hirakjyoti Baishya of Karia HS School got the 5th rank and Masum Mehtab of Baharghat Sankardev Sishu Niketan got the 9th rank. Imon Baishya of Baharghat Sankardev Sishu Niketan also got the 9th rank while the 10th rank was secured by Sashanka Haloi of Ananda Vidya Niketan.

A student of Sankardev Sishu Niketan of Barbhag Jyotishman Dev Sarma secured the third position securing 591 marks. Son of a primary school teacher, Kuleswar Sarma and Rita Devi, Jyotishman aims to become a doctor in the future. He studied for 8 to 10 hours daily to achieve the result. His father helped him in Science, Maths and Advance Maths while his mother guided him in Assamese subject. He likes to draw pictures and watch television. Jyotishman is thinking of pursuing Science stream at the Ramanujan Academy of Baihata Chariali.

Namashya Deka, a student Little Flower School of Nalbari town secured the fourth position. Namasya who has an ambition to become a physician wants to serve the people through her profession. She studied regularly to get this result though securing a rank was not her expectation. She is the daughter of Trailokyo Deka and Dipti Deka.

A student from a riverine area, Hirakjyoti Baishya of Karia HS School secured the 5th rank. He studied eight to nine hours regularly to achieve this brilliant result. His father Phanidhar Baishya is a school teacher while mother Prativa Baishya is an anganwdi worker. While talking to this correspondent, he expressed his confidence on the Assamese-medium government schools. Hirakjyoti also wants to become a doctor in the future.

Two students of Sankardev Sishu Niketan, Baharghat brought laurels to the remote area holding the 9th ranks. A student, Masum Mehtab, son of Sadek Ali and Mafida Mallik of Baranghati village aims to become a physician. He studied up to 14 hours daily after the test examination. While talking to this correspondent, Masum said that a student should have dedication, vision and self-confidence to get good results. Another student of the school, Imon Baishya, son of Khagen Ch Baishya and Usha Baishya of Barkhala village also got the 9th rank. Immon studied eight hours regularly. He stressed on the study of text books instead of notes book available in the markets. However, Masum and Imon took the help of tuitions in all subjects.

Another student of the district Sashanka Haloi who appeared in the examination from Ananda Vidya Niketan secured the 10th rank. Son of Jagadish Haloi and Hiran Haloi, Sashanka also wants to become a doctor. He will take admission in the Science stream of Sankardev Academy of Nalbari town.
