Six students involved in bike lifting held at Tangla

KALAIGAON,Oct 28 - In a major breakthrough, Udalguri Police apprehended seven bike lifters including six school and college going students of Udalguri district recently.

The members of the gang had been stealing bikes at various places in the district namely�Khoirabari, Bhergaon, Tangla, Dimakuchi, Harisinga etc., during the year. A police team headed by Durga Kinkar Sarma, (Inspector), Officer-in Charge of Tangla Police Station apprehended the culprits along with two stolen bikes on October 26. The apprehended youths are: Nomal Boro (19), Rijon Daimari (19), Jibit Daimari (25) under Harisinga police station; Josmin Daimari (19) under Mazbat police station; Ananta Boro (19), Biplab Boro (19) and Dibyajyoti Saharia (19) under Tangla police station.

Surprisingly, other than Jibit Daimari, all other six are students of prominent schools and colleges of the district. Both Dibyajyoti Saharia and Josmin Daimari are the students of a reputed junior college of Tangla town, the police informed. Police also recovered several items used in bike lifting. All the apprehended students have been remanded to judicial custody. Law-abiding citizens of the district have expressed concern at the involvement of school and college-going students in such crimes and appreciated the timely action of police.
