Six more deaths in Tripura

AGARTALA, Sept 2 - Six more COVID-19 deaths occurred in Tripura, especially in the Agartala Municipal Corporation areas, during the last 24 hours.

The State has witnessed 569 more positive cases during the same period. With the latest casualties, the virus has already claimed 118 lives in Tripura. The total COVID-19 tally has risen to 12,193. As of now, the State has 4,424 active cases, according to an official release issued by the Health Department today.

Altogether 473 positive cases were confirmed out of 2,921 samples tested through antigen kits, while 93 positive cases were detected from among 853 samples tested through RT-PCR and TrueNat. As many as 566 positive cases were confirmed after testing 3,774 samples on Tuesday. Out of the total cases, the Tripura West district has the highest number at 269, while Dhalai reported the second highest cases with 72. Altogether 193 COVID-19 patients have been released after they tested negative, during the past 24 hours.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb today visited the GB Pant Hospital to review the current situation in the hospital. �Today, I visited GB Pant Hospital, Agartala, along with the officials and reviewed the present situation & the preparedness to tackle the COVID19 situation. Interacted with the doctors, medical staffs & instructed them to ensure better medical facilities,� he said in a Facebook post.

Earlier, Deb sounded an alert on the growing numbers of COVID-19 deaths and positive cases in Tripura. The State Government has strengthened healthcare facilities at the grassroot level to defeat the pandemic,

he said.

The Chief Minister urged the people to follow the health guidelines to break the chain of transmission. �The next one month will be critical for the State in view of the spike in cases and casualties. If we obey the guidelines, the State can overcome the pandemic,� Deb said.
