Six in fray for Mizoram Lok Sabha polls

AIZAWL, March 25 - With two more candidates filing nominations today on the last date, six contestants are in the fray for the election to the lone Lok Sabha seat in Mizoram to be held on April 11, simultaneously with the bye-election to Aizawl West-I Assembly constituency.

BJP nominee Nirupam Chakma and People�s Representation for Identity and Status of Mizoram (PRISM) candidate TBC Lalvenchhunga filed nominations today. The ruling Mizo National Front (MNF) nominee C Lalrosanga, Zoram People�s Movement (ZPM) and Congress party combine sponsored independent nominee Lalnghinglova Hmar and two other independent candidates � Lalhriatrenga Chhangte and Lalthlamuani had filed nominations last week.

Three candidates have filed nominations for the by-election to the Aizawl West-I Assembly seat.

Besides MNF candidate Zothantluanga and ZPM-Congress combine�s common candidate Lalbuanga Sailo, president of the �Zoram Thar� (New Mizoram) party Rev Zaichhawna filed their nominations for the Aizawl West - I Assembly by-election.

Scrutiny of the nomination papers would be undertaken tomorrow while the last date of withdrawal of candidature is fixed on Thursday next.
