Six arrested for arson, murder

DIBRUGARH, Oct 23 - Police has arrested at least six persons in connection with the recent police case (No. 1757/19 u/s 120 (B)/143/436/326/307 and additional 302/153-A IPC) pertaining to arson and attack on dairy farmers and their families at Charkholia Ramsing Sapori along the Brahmaputra where three houses were torched and one person was killed while causing injury to several others.

Those arrested include Jatindra Padun, president, Laimekuri Anchalik, Takam Mising Porin Kebang (TMPK), Jayanta Taye, secretary, Laimekuri Anchalik, TMPK, Dhonesh Kutum, Ranuj Kuli, Dhulanath Mili and Brikudhar Doley. They were arrested by a joint team of Dibrugarh and Dhemaji Police led by the Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Dhrubajyoti Bora.

ASP Bora, who was camping in Jonai since the last two days following the incident, told newsmen here today that the accused were arrested from separate locations in Jonai and Gogamukh in Dhemaji district. �Three have already confessed orchestrating the attack. We are still to interrogate the others,� said ASP Bora.

It may be recalled that more than 100 people led by local TMPK leaders had allegedly attacked the dairy farmers in Charkholia Ramsing Sapori on October 19 after the farmers rejected the extortion demand of the organisation. One person was killed while several others sustained injuries during the attack.
