Sivasagar primary teachers donate Rs 48,08,533 to govt

SIVASAGAR, April 10 - Primary teachers from three education blocks in Sivasagar donated Rs 48,08,533 to Assam Arogya Nidhi from their monthly salaries to help the government in its fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

Dipankar Konwar, member, All India Primary Teachers Association, thanked the government for allowing the teaching community to extend a helping hand to the needy at this critical period.

Konwar further informed that the primary teachers have now been concentrating on preparing lesson plans for the students.

Meanwhile, the All Assam NREGA Employees Development Council in a release stated here today that a total of 845 account assistants, 1,145 GR Sahayaks and 1,310 computer assistants have decided to donate their one day�s remunerations to Asom Arogya Nidhi as a humble gesture to the government to tide over the COVID-19 induced crisis in the state.

Kiran Kishore Gogoi, president of the Council, has requested the commissioner secretary of the department concerned to take necessary steps in this regard.

On the other hand, Rajbhushan Gogoi, a social worker from Sivasagar, donated Rs 50,000 to Assam Arogya Nidhi through the Sivasagar deputy commissioner.
