SIVASAGAR, Sept 10 The Rajiv Gandhi Cooperative University has become a curse for the local farmers of Demow pathar at Joysagar, where it is proposed to be set up.

Protesting against the acquisition of nearly 200 bighas of land at Demowpathar for the university, a farmer named Ratneswar Bora had already committed suicide.

Sensation prevailed in the area again on Tuesday when another farmer was found hanging from a tree at Pahi gaon. The deceased was identified as Madhu Bora (26) of Salaguri.

Madhus father Prabhat Bora alleged that his youngest son committed suicide because the entire farming land of their family had been acquisitioned by the Government. Since then, he was very depressed. He had been missing since 8 pm the previous night. Madhus body was seen hanging from a tree near a jungle at Pahigaon the following morning by the locals. A case was subsequently registered with the Joysagar Police Station.
