Sivasagar dist tops pass percentage tally with 3 position holders

SIVASAGAR, June 6 - Sivasagar district clinched the top slot among the districts of the State with highest pass percentage (83.9%) and three rank holders.

Himashree Baruah of Sivasagar Fuleswari Girls� HS School, with a total of 588 marks, secured 6th position, while Antariksh Hazarika of Namti Chariali Jatiya Bidya Niketon secured 8th position with 586 marks, and Abhinab Gogoi of Moran St Joseph High School got the 9th position with 585 marks in the exam.

Altogether 1,10,023 candidates appeared in the examination and 9,251 cleared. �Last year, the district secured 2nd position with 72 per cent success rate and could improve on that due to tireless effort of all the teachers of the district,� said Abdul Zelil, Inspector of Schools, Sivasagar District Circle, on Saturday.

Himashree Baruah, daughter of Dhrubajyoti Baruah and Meghali Baruah, of Kathpar in Sivasagar told The Assam Tribune that she is happy to earn a position. She said that she studied whenever she felt like and was confident that she might clinch a position.

When asked about her future course of study, she said that she would go for medical studies, but that would depend largely on Class XII results.

Himahsree is also good in art and painting besides being a good singer.

Antariksh Hazarika, son of Manjumoni Hazarika and Basanta Hazarika of Baruah Pukhuri near Nati Chariali, is thankful to the teachers of the school, besides his parents. He wishes to pursue Engineering after Class XII and is interested in painting and newspaper reading. While asked about his preparation for the examination, he said that he studied seven to eight hours regularly after his test examination.

Abhinab Gogoi, son of Bastov Gogoi and Manoswi Gogoi, is interested in medical studies and loves paining and playing cricket.
