Sivasagar DDCM meeting held

SIVASAGAR, Aug 6 - A meeting of the Sivasagar District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DDCM) was held on Tuesday at Sukapha Bhawan.

Presided over by Jorhat MP Topon Kumar Gogoi, the meeting reviewed the progress of various government-sponsored schemes. Gogoi took stock of the progress in the Panchayat and Rural Development sector and directed the BDOs to complete them within the stipulated time and submit completion reports. Keeping the future of children in mind, the MP directed the BDOs to take up construction of a gymnastic hall and a library in every panchayat.

Rajya Sabha MP Kamakhya Prasad Tasa, who is the vice president of the committee, suggested that the works should be scientific and need-based. The committee directed the officials to complete the PMAY houses before the next sitting.

The Water Resource department was directed to contact the head office for implementation of urgent protective measures at Aphala and Rupohimukh.

The meeting reviewed works under Public Health Engineering, Disaster Management, PWD, NHIDCL, Social Welfare Food and Civil Supply Health and Family Welfare, APDCL, Civil Supply and Consumer Affairs, ASTC, BSNL, Forests, Veterinary and Animal Husbandary, Soil Conservation Agriculture, Tourism, Sericulture and Cultural Affairs departments.

The meeting was attended by Leader of Opposition Debabrata Saikia, Amguri MLA Pradip Hazarika, Sivasagar DC Lakhinandan Gogoi, Zila Parishad CEO Bipul Saikia, Sivasagar DDC Al Ajahar Ali, ADC Mun Gogoi, Nazira SDO Sampreety Goswami, Zila Parishad president Dhrubajyoti Mout, BDOs and other district officers.
