Sivasagar DC talks with TE management

SIVASAGAR, March 19 - Sivasagar Deputy Commissioner Lakhinandan Gogoi on Wednesday held a discussion with managers of tea estates to evolve effective preventive measures in the event of an outbreak of coronavirus in the district.

He instructed the managers to install handwashing facilities in office and factory campuses. The managers were told to ask labourers to maintain a minimum of one-metre distance from people as a precautionary measure.

Joint Director (Health) Dr Shyamanta Madhob Sarmah spoke of the possible fatal consequences of neglecting the preventive measures and the measures taken by the government. Dr Udayaditya Bharali elaborated the status report on COVID-19, while the DC inaugurated a handwashing facility at the DC office.

Sivasagar DDC Nawab Al Azhar Ali called for a joint effort by the government, public and business establishments in combating the disease. A Rapid Response Team with Dr Hemanta Baruah as nodal officer has been formed in the district.
