By Correspondent

SIVASAGAR, Oct 12 - Members of the Sivasagar Block Congress and Sivasagar Town Congress Committee on Saturday staged a mass demonstration demanding withdrawal of the three Agriculture Acts implemented by the Modi-led NDA government at the Centre.

APCC leaders Prasanta Gogoi and Monoranjan Konwar led the protest demonstration and in their speeches said the NDA government is all set to push the farmers of India into a state of starvation.

In Nazira, the protest rally was organised by Nazira Town and Rural Block Congress Committees from Athkhel, Juktoli, Sukapha etc., mouzas. The Congress workers with banners, ploughs and agricultural tools raised anti-BJP slogans and demanded rollback of the anti-farmer policy.

Sushanta Borgohain, former MLA of Thowra led the protest rally at Demow Chariali and vehemently criticised the Modi government and termed it as a capitalist-oriented dispensation trying to stifle all democratic opposition and bent on exploiting the farming community to the benefit of the big industrialists.

He said that the State government cannot investigate into the SI examination scam as the Home Department portfolio is being held by the Chief Minister himself. He therefore demanded it be handed over to a retired high court judge.
