Sivasagar best performing dist with 95.5%

SIVASAGAR, June 26 - Sivasagar became the best performing district with 95.5 per cent results in the HS examinations 2020.

Among all the districts, Sivasagar topped with 95.97 per cent in the Science stream, was second best with 88.66 per cent in Arts stream, and third in Commerce stream with 95.5 per cent.

In the recent HSLC examinations also, Sivasagar was the best performing district. Altogether, 4,822 students appeared in Arts stream, 1,167 in Science stream and 333 in Commerce stream.

Two position holders brought glory to the district. Shivanuj Borkotoky (474 marks) of Amguri who appeared from Arunudoy Academy secured the 9th position in Science stream, while Megha Majumdar (453) of Sivasagar Junior College bagged the 8th position in Commerce stream. Another student from Namti, Sivasagar secured the 8th position in Science stream but she appeared from Ramanujan Junior College, Nagaon.

From Sivasagar Junior College, 75 students got star marks and 194 first division in Science stream, 28 students got first division in Commerce and 115 got first division in Arts stream.

From TRB College, 60 students got first division. From Arjya Bhatta College, 80 got first division in Science stream, 17 got first division in Arts stream. From Fuleswari Girls HS School, 110 appeared and 109 passed the exam.

A total of 185 students got first division from Sivasagar Govt HS School. With 100 per cent results for the 10th consecutive year, the school has set a benchmark for government schools in the state, said principal Raman Sarma.

Speaking to the media on getting the top slot among all the districts, Inspector of Schools Abdul Zelil said the result reflects the combined effort of the teachers, guardians and the public. He also appreciated the role of the media for its positive support.
