Silver jubilee of Morigaon dist formation

MORIGAON, Oct 15 � Morigaon district completed 25 years of its existence on October 14. The then AGP government in 1989 carved out Morigaon district from Nagaon district vide a notification on October 14 .

On the occasion, several organisations of Morigaon district observed the silver jubilee day of the district on October 14 with a colourful programme. The Morigaon Divas Udjapan Samiti organised the main function at Morigaon Bihutoli. The programme began with tree plantation followed by flag hoisting by Birinchidhar Buragohain, president, Morigaon Divas Udjapan Samiti. A seminar �Morigaon� the future vision� was conducted by Mileswar Pator, former president of Morigaon Zila Sahitya Sabha.

In a separate programme held at Morigaon Gandhi Bhavan, the Morigaon Zila Rupali Jayanti Barsa Udjapan Aru Unnayan Samiti launched a year-long celebration. The open meeting held on the occasion was presided over by Harendra Bora, former MLA and was inaugurated by Narendra Nath Keot, retired Principal, Morigaon College. Addressing the gathering, Prasanta Rajguru, Executive Editor, Amar Asom, appealed to the people of Morigaon to strengthen agro-based village economy of the district. The Asom Gana Parishad, Morigaon district unit also observed the silver jubilee day of Morigaon district at its district office.

The Morigaon District Administration Employees Association also observed the day on the Deputy Commissioner�s Office premises.
