Silver jubilee

JORHAT, Sept 18 - A vernacular medium school � Dipankar Vidyapith of Jorhat � will start its yearlong silver jubilee celebration from September19 this year with mesmerising cultural rally, various competitions among school students of the district.

Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, the principal of the school, Nani Dutta, said that a statue of philanthropic lady late Surusi Devi would be unveiled during the first day of celebration as she contributed to set up the educational institute.

�Along with many other programmes, we will organise inter-district art competition, quiz and debate among school students of Jorhat in the year of silver jubilee celebration,� said teacher Bijoy Chandra Borthakur.

Organisers said that State Education Minister, Sarat Borkotoky, Padmashri Jadav Payeng and many other dignitaries are scheduled to grace the occasion on September 20 and21.

Along with the principal and the teachers of the school, journalist Lalit Bora and many other organisers were also present in the press conference.
