Silchar lift JK Barua Trophy

MANGALDAI, April 12 � Silchar clinched the title in the JK Barua U-19 Inter District Cricket Tournament humiliating Lakhimpur by an innings and 82 runs in the final here today.

On the last day of the two-day final, Lakhimpur were bowled out just few minute after lunch for 141 runs in their second innings resuming at the overnight total of 8 for no loss.

Rubul Gogoi(18) and Latu Baruah(25) added 47 runs for the opening wicket partnership and after that wickets started falling at regular intervals . Hafizuddin Ahmed (18) and member of the State U-16 team Hrishikesh Borah (34) tried to give some respectability to the team�s total. They finally were all out in 34.4 overs against an accurate bowling attack of Silchar led by the spinners. Like the first innings left arm spinner Rahul Singh(3/26) was top among the Silchar bowlers and thus he took his overall match figures to 12 for 34. Ikramul Ali (2/13) and Nihal Sethia (2/22), both right arm off spinners were also instrumental in demolishing the opponent batting line up. Rahul Singh who captured a total of 33 wickets in the tournament was adjudged as the man of the tournament and his match haul of 12 wickets helped him bag the man of the final also. His team mate Abhishekh Thakuri was adjudged as the best bastman of the final. The final was conducted by Sambhu Nath Deb and Navajit Deka as umpires respectively while Alakesh Sarma was the BCCI authorized scorer of the match
