SILCHAR, April 12 - In what could be called a massive blow to Silchar District Congress ahead of the second phase of Lok Sabha election, two of the partys influential leaders joined the BJP on Friday.
Sirajul Alom Laskar, general secretary (administration) of Silchar District Congress and Tapan Kumar Deb, general secretary, Sonai Block Congress were inducted and welcomed into the party by BJP state president Ranjit Kumar Dass at the party office in presence of Sonai MLA Aminul Haque Laskar, State vice president Biswaroop Bhattacharjee, district president Kaushik Rai and former president of the All Assam Bengali Yuva Chaatra Federation, Sukumar Biswas.
Later, speaking to the media, Dass said, both the new entrants have great potential and we hope they will be adding fillip to the partys vision to win the two important seats since BJP maintains its philosophy of Nation First, party next and individual last. We welcome Sirajul and Tapan.
Sonai Legislator Aminul Haque Laskar termed this as surgical strike into Congress which had taken the minorities for granted to gain political brownie points.
Sirajul, popular in the political circuit as Saheen said that the Congress party lacks vision for development and non-recognition of work has hurt me and many in the party.
