Silapathar case: 2 remanded to 10-day police custody

GUWAHATI, April 10 - After being arrested in Siliguri on Friday night, advocate Sahadeb Das and his associate Beni Madhab Roy � both accused in the Silapathar case- were today produced before the Court of Judicial Magistrate, Dhemaji which remanded them to 10 days� police custody.

Police sources informed that the investigators would question them on their role and corroborate the statements of other accused who are already in judicial custody.

Prime accused in the Silapathar case, Subodh Biswas and his close aide Subhash Biswas too were produced before the court after the expiry of the 14-day judicial custody. The court after hearing both the sides extended their judicial custody further.

Meanwhile, arrested Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Dr N Rajamarthandan was today produced before the Court of Judicial Magistrate, Kamrup (Metro) after the expiry of two days police remand after which he was sent to judicial custody.

Dr Rajamarthandan, who was arrested for leaking secret information related to the ongoing Silapathar case, will be produced before the court again on April 24.

The SSP, who also led the Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed to investigate the Silapathar case, has been charged with leaking secret information aimed at sabotaging the ongoing investigation.
