Sikkim MLA denies bribery charges

By A correspondent

GANGTOK, Sept 10 - Former SDF minister and sitting BJP MLA NK Subba has denied bribery allegations levelled against him over allotment of shops at Lal Bazaar here.

One Suresh Prasad, a resident of Gangtok, had alleged at a press conference that Subba, during his tenure as the Urban Development and Housing Department Minister, had taken bribes from the business community for allotment of shops at the government establishment in Lal Bazaar.

Addressing reporters at Geyzing today, Subba stated that the allegations against him are baseless, and that Suresh Prasad has no proof to support his charges. Prasad has made allegations without any evidence. I have filed an FIR on the issue, he added.

Subba maintained that some vested circles are trying to tarnish his political image by making baseless and fictitious allegations against him.

Some people have become jealous after I joined the BJP and they are trying to defame me. Suresh Prasad is being used by certain political parties, he said.
