Sikkim minister meets Mamata

GANGTOK, March 12 - Sikkim Roads and Bridges Minister Samdup Lepcha called on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee at her office in Kolkata on Wednesday. Upper Tadong MLA GT Dhungel and DGP, West Bengal, Virender Singh were also present during the meeting.

The meeting discussed ways to improve road connectivity between Sikkim and West Bengal. Lepcha laid out the issues related to connectivity between the two States, including the ongoing construction of a viaduct at Rangpo, proposal for construction of a new flyover across the railway crossing on Sevoke Road and construction of a bridge over the Teesta river as an alternative to the existing railway bridge, administrative support from the West Bengal Government for speedy construction of a railway line from Siliguri to Rangpo, junction improvement at Darjeeling More, and relocation of Salugara Haat.
