Sikkim Guv joins video conference on COVID-19

GANGTOK, March 27 - Sikkim Governor Ganga Prasad today participated in a video conference presided over by President Ram Nath Kovind and conducted by Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu to take stock of COVID-19 preparedness in States and Union Territories.

The President interacted with the Governors, Lt Governors and other officers of all States and UTs, and lauded the efforts of all health professionals and everyone at the forefront of handling the challenge. The deliberations started with the opening remarks of the President who underlined the need for strict enforcement of the lockdown and maintaining social distancing norms in order to contain the spread of COVID-19.

Meanwhile, a delegation of the Sikkim State Civil Service Association, an umbrella organisation of bureaucrats, called on Chief Minister PS Tamang here this afternoon and handed over a cheque of Rs 5 lakh as a contribution to the Chief Minister�s Relief Fund to fight the COVID-19 pandemic.
