GUWAHATI, Sept 23 - The crime branch of Guwahati police on Wednesday arrested one Kushal Das and apprehended around five persons in connection with the Assam Police SI (Unarmed Branch) recruitment case.
Earlier, the crime branch arrested Jugami Brahma, an employee of the State irrigation department on charges of demanding money against providing job. Based on the information gathered from her phone call record, police later arrested Kushal Das from Sualkuchi of Kamrup district.
Meanwhile, sleuths of the crime branch carried out multiple raids in Ganeshguri and Gitanagar areas of the city this evening and detained around five persons. However, till the time of filing of this report, police refrained from disclosing their names.
Meanwhile, the CID today arrested one Hirakjyoti Barua, who was a candidate of the examination, from Nagaon in connection with the case. He has been booked under Section 120B and 409 of IPC and Sec 66B of IT Act.
The CID also questioned BJP leader Divon Deka in connection with the case.
