Shyama Puja Mahotsav at Bali in Nalbari dist

TIHU, Oct 25 - Full preparations are afoot to celebrate the 213th edition of the historic Shyama Puja Mahotsav of Bali, which is the oldest puja of Nalbari district and a symbol of unity for the people of village Bali at the Kali mandir premises with a three-day-long programme starting from October 2. In this connection, a celebration committee has been formed with Mukul Ch Bhagabati as the president and Hemen Sarma as the secretary.

The first day�s programme will begin with cleanliness drive and installation of the Goddess. It will be followed by the opening of the door of the temple by Maneswar Brahma, MLA Barama LAC. The lighting of earthen lamps will be performed by Ashok Sarma, MLA Nalbari, Jayanta Malla Barua, chairman, Assam Tourism department and Bharat Bhusan Dev Choudhury, DC, nalbari. The other programmes for the day will be installation of Bishnu Bigrah, pujarabha, ojapali and natyavinoy.

The second and third day�s programmes will be usha kirtan, Bishnu homyagna, ayotir naam contest. The felicitation programmes to be conducted by Baligaon Unnayan Samiti will be inaugurated by Ganesh Tamuly, Chairman, North East Cancer Institute, Guwahati. In the cultural night, �Hahakar Kautuk Gosthi� of Nalbari will enthral the audience. The other programmes will be natyavinoy, Akanir priyabandhu anusthan to be inaugurated by Dr Bhupesh Sarma, Principal, NH College, Patacharkuchi and nagara naam which will be inaugurated by Dr Kishore Kr Talukdar, Principal, Tihu College.

Meanwhile, the celebration committee has sought full public cooperation to make this festival a successful one like in the previous years.
