Shutdown called in Nagaland against CAB

By Newmai News

DIMAPUR, Nov 18 - The Joint Committee for Prevention of Illegal Immigrants (JCPI) has called for an all Nagaland shutdown from 6 pm of November 19 to noon of November 20 in protest against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill (CAB).

According to the JCPI, once this Bill becomes an Act, it will forever change the demography of the entire North East, where the indigenous population will become minorities in their own land, like in the case of Tripura. Therefore, the JCPI has decided to go for all Nagaland shutdown beginning from 6 pm of November 19 to 12 noon of November 20, 2019, stated a press release issued on Monday.

The JCPI has requested all citizens of Nagaland to extend their cooperation and bear with the inconvenience, by suspending all normal activities and engagements to give a collective message to the Government of India to withdraw the CAB. All shops and business establishments are requested to voluntarily shut down as a sign of protest, it added.
