TURA, Sept 24 - The entire South Garo Hills was shut down today due to a non-cooperation movement call by various NGOs of the district demanding immediate repair of National Highway 62 which runs through the district.
The stir was called by various NGOs including GSMC, ADE, AAYF, ASWA and Mothers� Union. The dawn-to- dusk call was also in protest against the State Govt�s apathetic attitude towards the district. This is the second such call by the group in the past few weeks.
The NH 62 has remained in a deplorable state for decades with repairs being literally non-existent.
