Shruti, Mithilesh make Doomdooma proud

DOOMDOOMA, May 25 - Shruti Sonowal and Mithilesh Prasad Sharma of Doomdooma made the tea town proud by securing positions in the Higher Secondary Final Examination as per the results announced today.

Shruti secured fifth position in the Arts stream while Mithilesh secured ninth position in the Commerce stream. Both of them appeared in the examination from RD Junior College, Digboi.

Shruti secured 96 in English, 97 in Alternative English, 93 in Political Science, 87 in Economics, 97 in Logic and Philosophy and 84 in Education. Her total marks is 470 (94%). A serious and diligent student since the beginning, Shruti passed her HSLC examination from Don Bosco School, Doomdooma in the first division with distinction. Talking to this Correspondent, she gave the credit of her success to her parents and the teachers of her college. She wants to be a civil servant in the future. Shruti will now take admission in BA with Major in English in Cotton College, Guwahati. Shruti�s father Dr Ashok Kumar Sonowal is the Senior Medical and Health Officer of Dangari CHC and mother Kavita Doley Sonowal is a teacher at Rupbon LP School. She is a resident of Rupbon, two kms away from Doomdooma town.

On the other hand, Mithilesh secured 84 in English, 94 in Alternative English, 94 in Accountancy, 93 in Business Studies, 90 in Economics and 37 in Mathematics. His total marks is 455 (91%). A meritorious student since the beginning, Mithilesh passed his HSLC examination from Learners� High School, Rupai Siding here in the first division with Star marks.

Talking to this Correspondent, Mithilesh gave the credit of his success to his parents who amidst all the odds gave him all facilities for studies. His father Laxman Prasad Sharma is a driver of Hilika Tea Estate here and he drives the school bus of the garden. His mother Ranju Devi Sharma is a housewife. They live in garden quarters. He wants to be a bank officer in the future. Mithilesh will now take admission in BCom in Gauhati Commerce College.

Various individuals and organisations, including local MLA Durga Bhumij congratulated both the rank holders.

It may be mentioned here that three students from Tinsukia district could enlist their names among the first ten in the Commerce stream while one secured his name in the Arts stream. The other two rank holders in Commerce streams are � Ankur Baruah (6th) from RD Junior College, Digboi and Priyanshu Agarwal (9th) from Margherita College.
