JORHAT, Jan 2 - The Majuli district administration on Monday issued showcause notices to a large number of employees, including seven heads of departments posted in different Government offices for reporting late in office.
A senior Majuli district administration official said that Deputy Commissioner PG Jha issued showcause notices to Government employees of 11 offices in the Brahmaputra river island after they were found reporting late in office (i.e., after 9.30 am) following the Government preponing working hours of the offices to 9.30 am from 10 am from January 1, 2018.
The DC directed the employees to reply to the notices by January 5. Jha deputed a team of executive magistrates to the offices to assess the adherence of the employees to the new working time schedule and found most of the employees reporting late.
The Government had only recently issued a notification that all Government offices across Assam will function from 9.30 am to 5 pm.
