DIBRUGARH, March 29 - The District Election Office here has taken strong exception to illegalities committed by a few candidates, and has served them show-cause notices, as a prelude to possible future prosecution.
An official press release issued here Monday evening said the election authority has taken strong exception to model code violation by BJP candidate Prasanta Phukan. The allegation is that he inaugurated MLA Fund Projects in contravention of Model Code of Conduct.
Meanwhile, the election authority here has also served show-cause notices on Dibrugarh Congress candidate, Chandra Kanta Baruah and Chabua Congress candidate, Raju Sahu for allegedly violating Model Code of Conduct. These offences mainly relate to display of publicity material and holding of public meetings without prior intimation to the administration. Altogether 14 show-cause notices have been served on candidates for alleged model code violations in Dibrugarh district till Monday evening.
