Shotokan karate tourney gets off

GUWAHATI, Sept 2 - The first edition of the All Assam Shotokan Karate Championship and Seminar got off today at the Bhogeswari Phukanani Indoor Stadium here.

Altogether 410 players from seven different Shotokan groups under UKAA are participating in the championship. The Shotokan Karate Kata and Kumite seminar is being conducted for the participating players by KAI Referee Commission Chairman Renshi Paramjeet S Singh. The seminar was inaugurated by the UKAA working president Bhuban Lahkar.

The championship is being organised by the Shotokan Karate -Do Promotion Council of UKAA and hosted by Japan Shotokan Karate-Do Kanninjuku Organization, Assam in association with Greater Guwahati Karate-Do Association. The tournament will be held tomorrow morning where competitions will be conducted in 60 different categories for sub junior, cadet , junior and senior, male and female players, stated a release.
