Shortage of essentials alleged

By Correspondent

TURA, April 2 - The United Achik Youth Federation (UAYF), an NGO based in South West Khasi Hills district, has complained that there is shortage of essential commodities in the remote parts of the district. It asked the district administration to take care of the problems faced by daily wage earners.

Workers are facing immense difficulties due to a lack of essential commodities in their areas, said the NGO president, Sangra Marak. People are fighting for survival due to the ongoing 21-day lockdown, he added.

The NGO appealed to the MLAs, MDCs and the district administration to address the situation immediately. The Government should release relief funds immediately to provide basic necessities to the underprivileged households and families, Marak added.
