LUMDING, Dec 7 - With the completion of gauge conversion work of Lumding- Silchar section, Lumding railway station�s platform yard was remodelled, but the main platform which will be platform No 1, is yet to be constructed anew on the northern side of the station where the booking office, reservation counter, etc., are situated outside the railway station. Moreover, a lot of work is yet to be completed, so as to make Lumding station a model station.
In this connection, more than 50 shops were evicted on the northern side of the Railway Yard, adjacent to the market area for the development work of the Railways.
The evicted people, who have been in business for the last 50 to 70 years in this area, are searching for a livelihood, but in a vain.
