Shivaratri puja at Radhakuchi

BAIHATA CHARIALI, March 5 - The 23rd edition of Mahashivaratri puja at Radhakuchi Borpukhuripar Shiva mandir will be held on March 7 with a daylong programme.

In this connection, a Shivaratri puja celebration committee had been constituted in a general meeting held recently on the temple premises with Hari Deka as president, Niranjan Deka and Gunin Kakati as vice-president, Gakul Deka as secretary and Nabajit Talukdar and Rupam Deka as assistant secretaries.

As per programme, at around 8 am, the president of the puja celebration committee will hoist the religious flag. At around 8.30 am, Pradip Kumar Deka, assistant general secretary of the AASU Kamrup district committee, will perform smriti tarpan and at around 9 am Trailokya Deka, president of Karara gaon panchayat, Bhupen Sanka, secretary of Bordangerikuchi gaon panchayat and Kandarpa Barman, social worker of the locality will take part in tree plantation programme.

At 12 noon, Bhaben Sarma will read out Shiva Puran and at around 2 pm, ayoti nam will be held.

At around 5.30 pm, Dr Nitish Sarma will light the ceremonial lamp, followed by a felicitation programme. The other programmes of the day will be: mass cleanliness, reception, installation of idol etc. The puja celebration committee has appealed the pious people of the area to extend their active cooperation to make the puja a success.
