GUWAHATI, Feb 12 � Maha Shivaratri was celebrated across the State along with the rest of the country today amidst religious fervour and traditional gaiety.
In the city too, the religious ambience and fervour were unmistakable, with devotees in their hundreds thronging the temples of Lord Shiva since morning. The peripheries of temples buzzed with activities as vendors made brisk sale of religious wares and laddoos and ghotas of bhang.
The Umananda temple in the middle of the Brahmaputra was among the most visited shrine today. It witnessed a sustained rush since morning till evening.
