GUWAHATI, Oct. 18 - Assam Amateur Boxing Association has accorded a warm felicitation to the ace boxer Shiva Thapa who returned home today after claiming a bronze medal in the Doha World Boxing Championship.

Next year will be crucial for me as after failing to gain the Olympic berth in Doha I have to contest again for next years Rio Olympic ticket, said Shiva who looked trimmed and tough.

Shiva has to fight in the Asian Qualifying and World Boxing Series early next year and for that he is preparing from now onwards.

Shiva, who created history by winning a World Championship medal, said that the Doha meet was like Olympic for him as he had to fight against top boxers of the world. He, however, expressed his confidence that with the present form he will definitely be able to qualify for Rio Games.

Sports Director Sarma said Shiva has set up a new landmark in the State sports and he needs more support from all quarters.
