Shilton to visit city

GUWAHATI, Dec 3 - Former England World Cupper Peter Shilton will visit Guwahati on December 6 to attend the prize-giving ceremony of the Assam State Premier League (ASPL) held in different places in the State during May-July last where 12 clubs fought out for supremacy.

The championship was organized by the Assam Football Association (AFA) in collaboration with the Kolkata based Celebrity Management Group (CMG). Karbi Anglong Morning Star SC was the winner while FC Green Valley was the runners up.

The ASPL 2015 offered lucrative prize money for all the participating clubs. The clubs eliminated from the Zonal Group stage shall receive Rs 100,000 each while the quarterfinalists shall receive Rs 150,000 each and the semifinalists will get Rs 250,000 each. The runners-up and champion clubs will become richer by Rs 350,000 and Rs 500,000 respectively. In addition, there are several other prizes on offer, such as, Golden Ball winner (Best Player), Golden Boot winner (Highest Scorer), Golden Gloves (Best Goalkeeper), Best Defender, Best Midfielder, Best Overseas Player Best U-20 Player, Best Catchment Player etc.

The AFA secretary Ankur Dutta, while addressing to the media today said, Shilton will arrive here at 10.40 am and attend the function at the Landmark Hotels at 1 pm. He will return to New Delhi that day itself.
