MANGALDAI, Oct 8 - Labon Sports Club, Shillong annexed the 23rd Bodoland Gallants Gold Cup Football Tournament title organised jointly by Dimakuchi Ancholik ABSU and Dimakuchi Sports Association at Dimakuchi along the Indo-Bhutan international border in Udalguri district.
In the evenly contested final played at the Dimakuchi Stadium on Sunday afternoon, the Shillong outfit got the better of Yarkhak United FC of Manipur 2-1. In the 33rd minute Joshep Mayuwa put the Manipur outfit 1-0 ahead. However, the lead didn�t last long as after five minutes Ejjingmut Lyngdoh fired the equaliser for Shillong. Both the teams were locked 1-1 till the 65th minute when Victor Shadap netted the all important goal for the winners. The remaining minutes saw the Manipur team try for the equaliser but failed to find the target. Victor Shadap was adjudged the best player of the match.
By virtue of this victory, Labon Sports Club became richer by Rs 50,000 along with the trophy while the runners-up team pocketed Rs 30,000.
Earlier, the match was ceremonially inaugurated by Deputy Chief of BTC, Khampha Borgoyari in presence of several other guests and office bearers of the ABSU.
