Shillong Civil Hospital becomes eHospital

By Raju Das

SHILLONG, July 4 - In line with Digital India, Shillong Civil Hospital today became the first hospital in the State to have online registration of patients and joining the eHospital platform.

The hospital is in fact the 43rd eHospital in the country and second in the Northeast, after Tripuras Agartala Government Medical College.

The Health and Family Welfare Minister, AL Hek, inaugurated the Online Registration System (ORS) at the hospital and hoped the system would reduce the waiting time of patients.

The system would facilitate online registration for outpatient departments (OPD) and also getting access to laboratory reports and other facilities online.

Hek informed that a help desk will be set up in the Hospital premises, stating that the hospital would now be able to deliver health care services promptly and effectively.

The eHospital platform was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in July last year during the observation of Digital India Week.

T Dkhar, senior official from the National Informatics Centre, informed that the common patient portal of eHospital is accessible over internet.

It is hosted at MeghRaj cloud facility at National Data Centre, Delhi, which aids hospitals to provide various online services to patients such as online OPD appointment, viewing of lab reports, status of availability of blood in blood banks and others.

The portal make it easy for online OPD appointments using eKnow Your Customer data provided by Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) if patients mobile is registered with UIDAI. In case mobile number of the patient is not registered with UIDAI, patients name has to be provided.

New patients without Aadhar number can also make online appointments, but should have a mobile number. Such patients will get confirmation of appointment through SMS on registered mobile number, Dkhar informed.
