SHILLONG, Sept 22 � The Shillong Assamese Ladies Welfare Club celebrated the birthday of Dr Bhupen Hazarika by organising a musical evening on September 8 at Assam Cub here, said a Press release.
The president of the Club, Binu Hazarika, at the outset, wished a long life and good health of Dr Hazarika.
The event kicked off by recalling evergreen compositions of Dr Hazarika based on Shillong like �Shillongore Godhuli� and �Shllongore Monalisa Lyngdoh�.
Later, the audience joined the celebrations by singing along with the singers.
S B Kakoti, DGP Meghalaya lighted the lamp and the birthday cake was cut by former Assamese film actress Jyanada Kakoti.
