Shillong boys thrash Barekuri FC

GUWAHATI, July 1 - Inexperienced Barekuri Football Club suffered yet another humiliating defeat in the Bodousa Sports Club organised Bodousa Cup Football Tournament.

In the last group league match of the championship at the Nehru Stadium here today, the Tinsukia outfit went down to Shillong Lajong FC Academy 0-9.

The match was, however, of academic interest only as Shillong boys already cruised into the last-eight stage and Barekuri FC was eliminated from the contest. Now the Shillong will play against Global FC in the quarterfinal at Kokrajhar.

Prolific striker Milan Basumatary opened the sluice gate in the very second minute of the match and he added two more in the 19th and 25th minutes respectively to complete his hat-trick. Joe Zoherhiana gave his team 4-0 lead in the 34th minute.

After the break substitute Redeem Thang scored Shillong�s fifth goal in the 77th minute and after two minutes Sheen S Sothung made it 6-0. Another substitute Hardy C Nongbri scored the seventh goal in the 84th minute and finally it was Redeem who also completed hat-trick finding the target in the 90th and added time.

Our Tinsukia correspondent adds: Oil India Football Club marched into the last-eight stage of the championship defeating Maotai FC of Arunachal Pradesh 7-1 in a Group A 1 match at the Katchujan Field here today.
