Shilabhadra remembered at Gauripur

GAURIPUR, March 1 - Under the auspices of the Gauripur branch Sahitya Sabha, the death anniversary of famous story-writer Shilabhadra (Rebati Mohan Duttachoudhury) was observed on the premises of Gauripur Public Library. After paying of floral tributes and lighting of lamps a memorial meet was held in the evening of February 29 last which was chaired by Satyabrata Chakrabarty, president of the branch Sahitya Sabha. Atul Ch Ray, secretary of the branch explained the purpose of the meet.

A large number of members of the branch attended the memorial meet. Manas Chakrabarty, Pranab Kumar Barman, Sabuj Chakrabarty, AN Sharma, Ashutosh Ray, Prabir Kr Barooah, Kanak Ch Ray and a few others spoke about the contributions of the renowned writer and the creator of Madhupur a well-read novel where he depicted the picture of the common people of his birth place, Gauripur. The meet also urged the people of greater Gauripur to install a life-size statue of the famous son of Gauripur at a public place of the town.
