NALBARI, Oct 7 - A unique cultural festival titled Sham-e-Mehfil will be held at Nalbari Natya Mandir on October 27. Popular singer Dost Hannan is instrumental in organising the event which is aimed at maintaining peace and harmony among the people.
The cultural event will be inaugurated by Ganesh Tamuli, a social activist and the chairman of North East Cancer Hospital. The programme will begin with paying tributes to renowned stage actor Mahananda Sarma and Mahrum Mohammad Ali by Dr Basanta Kumar Bhattacharya and Kailash Sarma.
The inaugural programme to be conducted by Dost Hannan will be addressed among others by Ashok Kumar Sarma, MLA of Nalbari , Shiladitya Chetiya, Superintendent of Police, Nalbari, Biren Chakravarty, Principal of Barnagar College, Gitima Patowary Ray Baruah, Associated Professor of Barama College and Ranjiv Ray Baruah.
In the programme, popular singer Anima Choudhury, social worker and businessman Rajkumar Bajaj, journalist Ramen Kalita and social worker Pratul Patowary will be felicitated. The cultural programme will begin with presentation of gazals by Dr Subhra Kingkar Goswami, a physician of the district.
