Shake-up in State police

GUWAHATI, Aug 24 - The Assam Government today effected a major reshuffle in the State police and HC Nath will be the new Police Commissioner of Guwahati city police.

Nath, who is a 1996 batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, had earlier served as the Superintendent of Police of Guwahati city from March, 2002 to February, 2005.

The government order issued today said that Special DG, Law and Order, RM Singh has been transferred and posted as the Special DG, Border, while Kuladhar Saikia will take over as the Special DG, Law and Order. Anil Kumar Jha, ADG, Communication, has been posted as ADG, CID, while R Chandranathan has been posted in place of Jha.

The notification said that AK Sinha Casshyap, ADG, Border, has been transferred and posted as ADG, Training and Armed Police. He will replace Pradeep Kumar, who has been posted as DG, Home Guards and Civil Defence. City Police Commissioner Mukesh Agarwala has been transferred and posted as ADG, Law and Order, and YK Gautam, ADG, Vigilance and Anti-Corruption, has been given additional charge of ADG, BIEO.

The government has also changed the superintendents of police of a number of districts today. Nitul Gogoi, SP, Goalpara, has been transferred and posted as SP, Railway Police, Arabinda Kalita has been posted as the DCP, Administration of city police, IH Bora as SP, SB, D Mukherjee as SP, Hojai, Brajenjit Sinha as SP, Biswanath Chariali, Partha Sarathi Mahanta as SP, Kamrup (Rural), Sanjukta Parashar as AIG in the Assam Police Headquarters, Vivek Raj Singh as SP, Dima Hasao, while Amanjit Kaur has been posted as DCP, Traffic of Guwahati city.

The government has also transferred a number of officers of the rank of additional superintendents of police.
