GUWAHATI, June 19 - BJP president Amit Shah has directed the partys State leadership to complete all preliminary tasks for next years Lok Sabha polls by September-end, which will include verification of primary members and formation of social media teams at the grassroots level.

Shah, who held a series of meetings with senior BJP leaders of Assam here yesterday, has also directed that enrolment of new members and establishing contact with first-time voters be given priority as the saffron outfit gets ready to face the 2019 Parliamentary elections.

Shah said that winning the maximum number of seats from Assam in the next Parliamentary polls is of crucial importance. As such, he has directed our State party leadership to carry out 19 different tasks in the run-up to the polls, a senior BJP leader told The Assam Tribune.

Party sources said that Shah has fixed a deadline of September 30 for completion of the primary tasks.

These include verification and authentication of our 27 lakh members in Assam, holding of beneficiary conferences across the State where our leadership will interact with people who have availed of different social schemes, appointment of in-charges at the block, mandal and district levels for the Lok Sabha polls, among other things, said a party leader.

State BJP leaders have been directed by Shah to form social media teams, media teams and legal teams at all levels.

Shah has laid emphasis on the use of social media for attracting voters, particularly younger segments. As such, we have been told to form and activate WhatsApp groups down to the booth level to connect to our cadres and keep them in a state of readiness, sources said.
