SGBG urges ULFA to come for talks

GUWAHATI, May 24 � Voluntary organisation Save Guwahati Build Guwahati (SGBG) today appealed to the United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) commander in chief Paresh Baruah to respect the sentiments of all sections of people of Assam and come forward for talks with the Government for a political solution of the problem.

SGBG president Dhiren Baruah said that all sections of people of Assam now want peace, while, the representatives of the organisations, which attended the recently held State level convention also stressed the need for solution of the problems through talks. He said that under the circumstances, the ULFA C-in-C should respect the sentiments of the people and come forward for unconditional talks in the interest of overall development of Assam.

Baruah also appealed to the Government of India to agree to hold unconditional talks with the ULFA and other militant groups in the interest of restoration of peace in the State.
