SGBG appeal to ULFA

By STAFF REPORTER

GUWAHATI, Jan 5 Voluntary organisation Save Guwahati Build Guwahati (SGBG) has made an appeal to United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) to review its stand for seceding Assam from India. The people of Assam have rejected the demand of a sovereign Assam, said the voluntary organisation in a press statement here.

Criticising the latest statement of the militant outfit against naming the main pandal of the Barpeta session of the Asam Sahitya Sahba after B P Saraf, the SGBG said that the people of Assam have been embracing all those who have been bestowing love on Assam.

Numerous examples of people like the Kanois of Dibrugarh, Prabhudayal Himatsingka, Chaganlal Jain are there to elucidate the point of the contributions of the people belonging to the Marwari community to Assam, said the voluntary organisation.

ULFA met with its political end on the very date of its gunning down of Manabendra Sarma. The people of Assam are opposed to the policy of violence, murder and loot and they are eagerly awaiting for a constitutional safeguard and updating of the National Register of Citizens, said the voluntary organisation.
